Principal's Advisory Council

Purpose

The purpose of the Principal's Advisory Council is to provide opportunities for members of the school community to participate in the decision-making process at the local school level.

  • The PAC will:

    • Assist with the identification of school needs.
    • Review, evaluate, and shape the school’s continuous improvement plan.
    • Facilitate communication between school staff and the school community.
    • Provide input for the proposed school budget.

Member Information

The School Advisory Council provides opportunities for members of the school community to participate in the decision-making process at the local school level. The council serves as an advisory body to the principal and school leadership team, with members fulfilling both representative and advisory roles. While the council does not establish school policy, it plays a critical role in helping shape the school's Continuous Improvement Plan through feedback and recommendations from families, staff, and community members. Primary functions of the council include assisting with the identification of school needs, reviewing and evaluating the Continuous Improvement Plan, facilitating communication between the school and the community, and providing input regarding the proposed school budget.
Henderson Advisory Council meetings are held throughout the school year and include updates on school improvement efforts, student achievement, budgeting, and other topics relevant to the school community. Parents, guardians, staff members, and community stakeholders are encouraged to participate and provide input.
Open Chair (Citizen's Time)
Each Advisory Council meeting includes an Open Chair (Citizen's Time) opportunity. Open Chair provides parents, guardians, staff members, and community members with a designated time to share comments, questions, concerns, recommendations, or feedback with the Advisory Council and school leadership. PWCS identifies Open Chair as a required component of every Advisory Council agenda to ensure that families are provided consistent opportunities to voice their perspectives and contribute to school improvement efforts.

Meeting Information

All meetings will take place on designated Tuesdays at 5:45 p.m. in the Henderson library or on Zoom.   Zoom links are emailed to parents and included in the school newsletters.

Meeting minutes are posted after the council reviews the notes taken and approves them through majority vote.
