Small groups are offered throughout the school year. You may request your child to be in a group you feel would be beneficial to him/her. Most groups meet one time per week during lunch for 6 weeks. Both Mrs. Hess and Mrs. Johnson facilitate small group sessions.
Hello Huskies!: For newcomers to Henderson Elementary! This group is meant to help ease the transition into a new school for our new huskies! Over the course of our group sessions, students will learn about Henderson Elementary, meet other new students at Henderson, and discuss how to make new friends.
Family Transition Support Group: Provides support and coping skills for students from families experiencing separation, divorce, remarriage, or another change in family structure.
Salvaging Sisterhood: A girls group to help build self-confidence and peer relationships and to develop positive communication skills. Discussion topics include: developing empathy, managing conflicts, and developing positive friendships.
Building Brotherhood: A boys group to build self-confidence and peer relationships and to develop positive communication skills.
Grief and Loss: A support group for students who have lost a loved one to help them work through the grieving process.
Taming Feelings: Provides a supportive peer group for students to learn and practice strategies to decrease stress and anxiety.
Strengths Training: Provides a supportive peer group for students to identify their strengths and build social skills and self-confidence.
