Welcome to 1st Grade!! It is going to be such a great year!
Please bring in the following supplies at Open House:
- 1 box 8 count washable markers
- 1 small plastic supply box (8 3/8 X 5 3/8)
- 1 pair of child scissors
- 1 backpack—NO wheels please.Just big enough to hold a folder and library book
- 2 black dry erase markers (low odor)
- 3 paper pocket folders – 1 each red, blue, yellow (no prongs)
- 1 pink pearl eraser
- 2 boxes of 24-count crayons
- 8 large glue sticks
- 1 highlighter
- 1 composition notebook
- 1 box (12 count) #2 pencils – pre-sharpened
Please put one dry erase marker, the crayons, pencils, pink eraser, 1 glue stick, highlighter, and scissors in the supply box before coming to open house. Students will not need the backpack until the first day of school. Please remove extra supplies from packaging and put the markers and extra glue sticks and box of crayons in a gallon Ziploc with child’s name on front. This will prepare your child for the first day of school.

**If you would like your child to have their personal set of headphones, please send them in a gallon-sized bag with the child’s name on the front. Otherwise, they will use the community head sets in the computer lab.

We will continue to implement and grow the STEM and Children’s Engineering Program in first grade.
The acronym STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This approach to education is designed to revolutionize the teaching of subject areas such as mathematics and science by incorporating technology and engineering into regular curriculum through integration.
We are planning many exciting design challenges to do throughout the year! We need your help in collecting the items below over the summer and throughout the 2016-2017 school year.

Multi-colored tissue paper
Plastic baby food containers
Small boxes and other containers
Please do not send these items to school until we will ask for them and are ready to use them for projects in the classroom. Thank you for saving your items at home for some amazing STEM projects!
