Dear Henderson Husky Families,

Welcome back to a new school year! We hope you had a relaxing and fun summer! We are so excited to see everyone back in the library this year!

To start off the year smoothly, we need your help. Below are the library rules about checking out and returning books and how we will deal with lost or damaged books. These rules were discussed with each class as they came to Library during the first 6 days of school.

Library Check Out Rules:

• Students will check out books on the days that they have Library for Encore.
                  - Kindergarten will get one (1) book each for the first semester.
                  - 1^st & 2^nd will get two (2) books each.
                  - 3^rd through 5^th will get three (3) books each.
• Library books may be returned anytime by placing the books in the Library Return bin in their classroom or by bringing their books to the library first thing in the morning. There is also a book return outside the front door of the school near the bench.
• Books are checked out for three (3) weeks and can be renewed one (1) time. Students wishing to renew their book(s) must bring them to the library and request that we renew it.

Damaged or Lost Books:

• If your student’s book(s) become lost or damaged please report it to us as soon as possible. Please DO NOT try to repair the book yourself. We will work with you to determine if the book can be repaired or if it needs to be replaced.
• If the book is damaged beyond repair or lost, we will need to assess a fine that you will be responsible for. Your student will not be able to check out any more books until the fine is paid.

Overdue Books:

• If your student has an overdue book, they must return it or renew it.
• After 45 days all overdue books will be marked as lost and a fine will be assessed.
• Your student will not be able to check out new books until the overdue books are returned or the fine is paid.

Open Checkout:

• Grades 3-5 will be able to check out books any day from 10:00-12:45 am and 1:15-3:30 with teacher permission.
• Students may only take advantage of Open Checkout if they have returned all books and taken care of any fines.
